Dec 25, 2019  Since in my Surface 1 I have the touch keyboard I need audio feedback for the pressure of keys, but I don't want to hear loud all the other windows sounds. Jan 06, 2016  Last week, the team behind the largest free and open source DJ software Mixxx dropped a brand new version of their application, Mixxx 2.0. The new version adds a number of major new features that make it leaps and bounds better than when we last took a serious look at the program back in 2012 (see our review of version 1.10), including four decks, FX chaining, RGB waveforms, and harmonic.

The latency in Mixxx indicates the amount of time it will take for the audio to respond to any change in a control. For example, a latency of 36 ms indicates that it will take approximately 36 ms for Mixxx to stop the audio after you toggle the play button. Generally speaking, the lower the latency, the more responsive Mixxx will be. A latency between 36-64 ms is acceptable if you are using Mixxx with a keyboard/mouse or a MIDI controller. A latency below 16 ms is recommended when vinyl control is used because Mixxx will feel unresponsive otherwise.

In order to tweak your latency, reduce the latency slider in the Sound Hardware preferences pane and experiment until you can reliably run Mixxx without hearing any crackles, pops, or dropouts in the audio. Changing your Sound API to ASIO on Windows or JACK on Linux may allow you to reduce your latency setting, but this depends on your hardware configuration.

  1. Alternatively referred to as the beanie key, cloverleaf key, cmd key, open Apple key, or command, the command key is a key created by Susan Kare that is found on all Apple keyboards. The picture is an example of the command key looks on the Apple keyboard next to the control and option keys.
  2. Mixxx User Manual, Release 1.11.0. Apply This is used to indicate a certain area of the GUI, including button labels, tabs, checkboxes, field names, values in selection lists etc. STRG + G This is used to mark a keystroke, or a sequence of keystrokes. In this example, you would have to hold down the STRG key, then to press G.
  3. Import and export of data and settings via USB cable With the R&S ® RTB2000/RTM3000/RTA4000 oscilloscopes, you control and interact remotely via LAN. These oscilloscopes incorporate the USB-based connectivity standard media transfer protocol (MTP).

Keep in mind that lower latencies require better soundcards and faster CPUs and that zero latency DJ software is a myth (although Mixxx is capable of < 10 ms operation).

Key Commands For Windows

16.4. Command line options¶

Mixxx is designed to be as user-friendly as possible. As such, its command lineoptions are only useful for development or debugging, as they make these taskseasier. Command line options are case-sensitive.

    New in version 2.1.0:
  • --debugAssertBreak option

  • --logLevel option

  • --logFlushLevel option

    Changed in version 2.1.0:
  • --controllerDebug option also prints outgoing MIDI messages

Option

Description

[FILE]

Load the specified music file(s) at start-up.Each file you specify will be loaded into thenext virtual deck. For a list of supported filetypes, go to Changing music directories

–resourcePath PATH

Top-level directory where Mixxx should lookfor its resource files such as MIDI mappings, overriding the default installation location.

–pluginPath PATH

Top-level directory where Mixxx should lookfor sound source plugins in addition to defaultlocations.

–settingsPath PATH

Top-level directory where Mixxx should lookfor user settings files such as the librarydatabase and preferences configuration file.

–controllerDebug

Causes Mixxx to display/log all controller datait sends and receives, and script functions itloads.

–developer

Enables developer-mode. Includes extra log info, stats on performance, a Developer tools menu, extra developer skins, and provides usefulinformation for skin writers in widget tooltipsand logs .

–safeMode

Disables risky things at start up. This shouldhelp troubleshoot crashes at startup or if Mixxxwon’t boot.

  • Automatically loads empty waveforms

  • Disables spinning vinyl widgets

  • Disables synchronization polling

  • Doesn’t open controllers by default

–locale LOCALE

Use a custom locale for loading translations(e.g fr)

-f, –fullScreen

Starts Mixxx in full-screen mode

–logLevel LEVEL

Sets the verbosity of command line logging

  • critical - Critical/Fatal only

  • warning - Above + Warnings

  • info - Above + Informational messages

  • debug - Above + Debug/Developer messages

  • trace - Above + Profiling messages

–logFlushLevel LEVEL

Sets the the logging level at which the log bufferis flushed to mixxx.log.LEVEL is one of the values defined at --logLevelabove.

–debugAssertBreak

Breaks (SIGINT) Mixxx, if a DEBUG_ASSERT evaluatesto false. Under a debugger you can continueafterwards. This will also avoid to switch theMIXXX_DEBUG_ASSERTIONS_FATAL flag which leads toa time consuming full rebuild. Now theMIXXX_DEBUG_ASSERTIONS_FATAL is only respected if--debugAssertBreak is not passed.

-h, –help

Display this help message and exit

16.5. Developer tools¶

Keyboard shortcuts

To start Mixxx in Developer mode from a custom resource directory withMIDI and HID logging enabled, type the following line into theterminal and hit return:

16.5.1. Experiment modes for rapid development and testing¶

  • Adds a static Experiment class with a tri-state mode flag that indicateswhether the experiment mode is OFF, BASE, or EXPERIMENT.

  • Adds Developer ‣ Stats:Experiment Bucket andDeveloper ‣ Stats:Base Bucket. Each one toggles betweenOFF and BASE/EXPERIMENT so you can choose exactly what time spans you wouldlike to collect in your base and experiment buckets.

  • Updates StatsManager to segment collected stats into a base and experimentbucket. This allows you to quickly measure the difference a code change hason relevant counters / timers within the same execution of Mixxx.

This is useful for quickly enabling and disabling a code change withouta re-compile/re-run cycle to get an anecdotal sense of how it “feels” aswell as a quantified sense of how it differs in terms of stats Mixxxcollects.

All stats collected via the usual Counter/Timer/ScopedTimer/etc. toolsare segmented into a BASE STATS and EXPERIMENT STATS section printed tothe log on exit.
